The center announced its decision after emergency surgery for pulmonary embolism


Billy Priceselected in the first round of the 2018 draft, announced his retirement from the NFL Saturday due to the possibility of complications from a blood clot.

“In the blink of an eye, everything can be taken away from us,” Price wrote on Instagram. “On April 24, I had emergency pulmonary embolism surgery to remove a clot that was entering both lungs. As a healthy 29-year-old, an unprovoked pulmonary embolism with no further medical explanation is terrifying. I am truly grateful to be alive today”

“Unfortunately, I will be retiring from the NFL as the risk of internal bleeding while taking blood thinners creates a tremendous risk.”

Billy Price centered, played for the last time in the NFL with the Arizona Cardinals during the 2022 season.

He played 69 games in his career (45 as a starter) with the Bengals, Giants and Cardinals since he was selected by Cincinnati with the 21st overall pick in the NBA draft NFL of 2018 from Ohio State.

With the Buckeyeswon the Rimington Trophy, which honors the best center in the country, in 2017.
