Ecogas: after supply cuts come protests

After the start of gas supply cuts, both to industries and CNG for automobiles, ordered by the National Government, the conflict that affects Ecogas employees has intensified since Friday.

The workers announced that they will hold assemblies starting this Monday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will not work overtime.

The measures, announced by the Gas Workers Association, will also affect the distribution of meters intended for new users and the control of regulatory chambers, which are constantly adjusted in winter.

As published The New Morningthe protest, promoted by ATGAS, a union that brings together employees of the Central Gas Distributor that we know as Ecogas, is in demand of an update of salaries for the month of May.

Likewise, as the claim also affects operators of other outsourced companies, such as Coyserv and Omnitronic, among others, it is not ruled out that the conflict puts the normal domestic distribution of natural gas at risk.

For his part, the General Secretary of the Union, Miguel Arroyo, told Channel Cthat “since January they have been refusing to give a salary increase according to the CPI (Consumer Price Index), so that our salaries keep up with inflation.”

“In the last negotiation, it was requested to incorporate last month’s 8.8% inflation, but this was denied by the company,” Arroyo added.

The beginning of this conflict dates back to the meetings held last Friday in all the Ecogas operating centers and in the customer service room on Juan B. Justo Avenue, so now and for this week, it was resolved that from This Monday, assemblies will be held in all workplaces, for 3 hours from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., they will not perform overtime or added tasks, so they will apply collaboration relief during work hours.
