Police sources identify father murdered at West Little River gas station

WEST LITTLE RIVER, Fla. – A Miami-Dade family was in mourning Sunday after a gunman killed a 53-year-old father in his car at a Sunflex gas station in West Little River.

Local 10 News sources familiar with the case identified the man police officers found dead Saturday afternoon in a green 2005 Ford Interceptor as Edward Bernard Bailey of Overtown.

According to Detective Angel Rodriguez, spokesperson for the Miami-Dade Police Department, the shooting occurred around 12:35 p.m., and officers responded to Northwest 79 Street and 17 Avenue.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel pronounced Bailey dead at the gas station. A yellow tarp covered the driver’s side of the car decorated with stickers that looked like bullet holes.

According to sources, the gas station had surveillance video showing Bailey parked on the west side of the gas station when two men in a gray Volkswagen Tiguan parked behind him and one of them shot Bailey once. There was a .40 caliber casing at the crime scene, according to police sources.

Detectives distributed a “Seeking Homicide Information” flyer and asked anyone with information about this case to call Detective H. Garcia at 305-471-2400, or Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
