Heating becomes more expensive in homes without connection to the natural gas network

The situation for the residents of Santa Cruz who do not have access to the natural gas network is complicated by the arrival of winter and the recent increase in the prices of gas bottles and tubes. These neighbors must resort to these more expensive options to be able to heat themselves during the icy winter days. Currently, the price of a gas bottle exceeds 10 thousand pesos, with a duration of approximately one week in conditions of sub-zero temperatures. On the other hand, a gas tube, which can last a month, costs around 50 thousand pesos.

In the midst of this problem, the federal court of Caleta Olivia, headed by Judge Marta Yañes, issued a precautionary measure in response to the protection presented by the State Prosecutor’s Office to stop the excessive increase in the gas rate. However, this measure does not solve the underlying problem and its scope is limited both in geographical terms and in the types of consumers affected. The ruling only benefits residential users of natural gas in certain locations and does not include the consumption of LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas), which is used by many residents of the province.

This situation highlights the urgent need for more inclusive and effective solutions for the many residents who depend on LPG in Santa Cruz, especially during the winter season.
