After reaching the FPC final in historic fashion, Bucaramanga coach Rafael Dudamel spoke with ESPN Team F before starting the decisive series against Pablo Peirano’s Santa Fe, who also spoke with ESPN.
In addition to talking about the virtues of his team and what he expects for the final against León, Dudamel mentioned the definition of Group A, in which he also had to depend on the result between Millonarios and Junior.
Surprisingly, Dudamel said that he expected help from Millonarios since “historically” this had happened when Junior was a visitor in Bogotá.
“I was very convinced that this result was viable.. Historical statistics indicated it. Furthermore, Millonarios as a large team and due to its professionalism, could not afford to lose two games in a row, it is strange to see them in that situation. The first thing I told my managers was that We couldn’t afford not to win because surely in Bogotá the result we needed was going to happen.. “That’s how it happened,” he argued.
In addition to this, he highlighted the importance of Millonarios’ attitude, which generated a concept of “fair play” in the FPC. “Millonarios could not close the campaign badly but this speaks very well of the Colombian League. They are dangerous games, fortunately nothing has happened but a lot could have happened. “It is clear that Millonarios had just suffered the elimination of Libertadores and there was no better way to clean up their image than by winning their last game.”
