They are working in Esquel on a ordinance for annoying noises in vehicles and motorcycles. Councilor Juan Margara indicated that it is up to those who “have an exhaust pipe that is not approved or that is modified to make noise.”

He argued that in addition to the pollution generated by non-approved exhaust pipes, there is a risk and concern on the part of families in which there are people with disabilities, as is the case of those with autism. “There are people who really suffer from these noises,” he said.

He stated that there is a national traffic law that prohibits it and that many municipalities in the country already have this ordinance. In this sense, he pointed out that “It is a matter of raising awareness and demanding that vehicle owners regularize the situation of the exhaust pipe.”

Later, they indicated that they consider that in some cases it is a hobby or a matter of exhibitions for which this exception would be made. That is, those vehicles or motorcycles that have their exhaust pipes modified, “can be used for the exhibition but on public roads they must take precautions for the residents of Esquel.”

In the first instance, the owner of the vehicle will be notified and given time to modify it. As Margara indicated, In the event that 15 days after being notified you do not execute this modification, a first fine would be imposed.

The councilor reported that next week he will be admitted to begin discussing it in committee.
