Tl;dr

  • “CUX: tell me a secret” is a mental health application.
  • Offers emotional help through artificial intelligence.
  • Companies and governments are its main target.
  • It has sparked controversies about mental health without human intervention.

Emotional assistance through artificial intelligence

In a world where the 85% of people lack mental health services, an innovative solution emerges: “CUX: tell me a secret”. This application, created by Connie Ansaldi, promises to provide emotional help through artificial intelligence, without human intervention. Its main objective is companies and governments, and its use has caused strong controversy.

Service contracted by a Buenos Aires municipality

Telenoche traveled to Trenque Lauquen, in Buenos Aires, to investigate why the municipal government “hired and promoted CUX at the end of last year as part of its mental health policy and why it stopped contracting the service”.

Mental health without humans?

The question that arises is: Is mental health care possible without human intervention? Although CUX is not its own artificial intelligence, it works with a ChatGPT-type model, which simply mediates between the client and the masses of text that this model returns. Users can have up to 10 free conversations, after which they must pay a monthly fee.

The application, which is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, has been the subject of criticism from experts consulted by Telenoche. However, CUX insists its services are evidence-based and provides daily self-help tips on its Instagram account.

Editorial opinion

Mental health is a delicate topic that requires careful and personalized attention. Although AI solutions like CUX can offer immediate emotional support, they cannot replace the empathy and understanding that only a human can provide. As we move towards an increasingly digital world, we must be cautious and ensure that technology enhances, not replaces, our mental health services.
