A serious problem worries Education; Just days before the start of winter, 20 schools in San Juan do not have gas service. For this reason, it was decided to start with virtual classes similar to those applied during the pandemic. The Ministry blames the previous management for not having carried out the correct maintenance.

The worrying data was confirmed by the director of Gas Networks, Ángel Domijan, who explained that initially there were 24 establishments with this problem, but stated that they managed to reinstall the service in four. In turn, he highlighted that they are working in the 20 affected schools, but warned that the work deadlines can be extended between 30 and 60 days, since the authorization not only depends on the area, but also on the relevant Ecogas inspections. .

The reason is that in the previous administration they did not act as quickly as the case deserved. This dates back to last year,” he stated.

In this sense, Domijan stated that the biggest drawback is that currently these establishments do not comply with current regulations, given that the facilities are old, and this means that they cannot be enabled.

In addition, he confirmed that in some of these schools heating is being provided through heaters, which is why the Minor Works Directorate is also working on the electrical installations to avoid overloading the systems. It is worth noting that in the establishments where dining rooms or picnic areas operate, a small gas quota has been left enabled, so that they can continue operating.

On the other hand, the Secretary of Education, Mariela Lueje, referred to the dramatic situation, and expressed: “We are aware of the problem and we have begun to apply a contingency plan through virtual classes. That is something that the pandemic left us, we learned how to do it and we are going to apply it in these circumstances.”

Likewise, he pointed out that there are parents who decided not to send their children to school, but assured that “classes and educational services have not been cut.” “We want them to return quickly to face-to-face, and we are working for it, especially at the primary level,” she emphasized.
