From when will increases of more than 150% in electricity and gas be paid

The Government authorized new increases in electricity and gas: users will pay between 90% and 150% more on their bills of the electricity and gas supply starting in July.

Unlike the first link of tariff release, what the Government will implement is the monthly update of transportation and distribution services. The criterion, instead of updating for past inflation, The future estimate will be taken into account, which is expected to follow a deceleration path.

It is expected that starting this month, electricity will suffer an increase of up to 156%, while gas will be 30%. In addition, the ballots will be retroactive until June 1, so the increases will only be reflected between June and July.

In this way, starting next month the increases will impact on a monthly basis.

How much will you have to pay for electricity starting in June?

Low-income users (N2), who did not have a subsidized consumption limit, starting in June will have a limit of 350 kWh/month (700 in cold areas). For their part, middle-income users (N3) will see their subsidized consumption limit reduced from 400 to 250 kWh/month (500 in cold areas).

High-income (N1), commercial and industrial users will pay 100% of the cost of electricity, which will have an impact on bills of around 20%. The N2 will have a bonus of 71.9% (before it was 96%) and the N3 of 55.9% (when it was 97%).

In addition, Resolution 92/2024 of the Ministry of Energy brought the Seasonal Energy Price (PEST) for the May-October period to $57,214 per megawatt hour for all residential users. In this way, the average value of the final invoices will be the following:

  • High income (N1): will go from $24,710 to $30,355.
  • Average income (N3): will go from $6,585 to $16,850.
  • Low income (N2): will go from $6,295 to $12,545.

The gas bill for a middle-income household will go to $26,865.

How much will you have to pay for gas starting in June?

The price of natural gas at the Point of Entry to the Transportation System (PIST) also suffered an increase for the May-October period and will go to $4 per million BTU (British unit of measurement for gas). Furthermore, each segment receives different subsidies.

High-income users (N1) will pay that price, without subsidies. Meanwhile, low-income users (N2) will have a 64% subsidy on this charge (they will suffer a 100% increase), while for middle-income users (N3) it will be 55% (81% increase).

In this way, in June the average values ​​of the final monthly invoices will be the following:

  • High income (N1), with an average consumption of 149 m3: will go from $25,756 to $28,142.
  • Average income (N3), with an average consumption of 171 m3: will go from $24,465 to $26,865.
  • Low income (N2), with an average consumption of 159 m3: will go from $15,638 to $20,797.

On this basis, ENARGAS will define the new tariff tables with the transportation and distribution values.
