In the midst of the low temperatures that have been experienced in San Juan for a long time, it was learned that in the province there are still about 20 schools that currently do not have gas service. The information was confirmed by the Government during a press conference in which it announced that intense work is being done to restore it as soon as possible. Meanwhile, heaters have been distributed to alleviate the low temperatures in classrooms.
Ángel Domijan, director of Red de Gas, explained that initially 24 schools were affected by the gas outage, but that the problem has already been solved in four of them. “We are working to provide a quick solution to the rest of the establishments, through specialized companies,” said Domijan.
He also explained that the main cause of the gas outages is due to the lack of maintenance and updating of the facilities in previous administrations. “The facilities in these buildings, which were approved at the time, now do not comply with current regulations due to their age,” he said.
The Gas Network reported that the adaptation and repair work could be completed in one or two months. “We intend to finish the work in these priority establishments within this period. However, we also depend on ECOGAS, which must carry out the inspections and approve the updated documentation,” concluded the director of the Gas Network.
