MEXICO CITY, June 6, 2024.- It is necessary to design artificial intelligence tools with rules that guarantee the privacy and protection of personal data, said Adrián Alcalá Méndez, President Commissioner of the National Institute of Transparency, Access to Information and Protection of Personal Data (INAI), by participating in the conference “Harmonizing artificial intelligence and the protection of personal data in modern document management.”

“Artificial intelligence makes decisions and executes tasks based on the knowledge obtained. It is necessary to feed artificial intelligence with rules that the algorithm must obey at any time during the process, to guarantee correct processing of personal data,” said Alcalá Méndez.

INAI commissioners Josefina Román Vergara and Blanca Lilia Ibarra Cadena also participated in the activities organized by the State Institute of Transparency, Access to Information and Protection of Personal Data (InfoNL).

For Commissioner Román Vergara, “the objective is to find the perfect balance between innovation and the promotion of technology in relation to privacy, through the promotion of a culture of responsibility and ethics in data management.”

Commissioner Ibarra Cadena advised using artificial intelligence responsibly, to avoid a possible violation of the privacy of its users. “An analysis must be carried out on the technology used, the type of personal data that is processed and the consequences for the holders of a possible breach,” she said.

The InfoNL Advisors participated in the activities, Brenda Lizette González Lara, president, María de los Ángeles Guzmán García, María Teresa Treviño Fernández and Francisco Reynaldo Guajardo Martínez, as well as Miriam Josefina Padilla Espinosa, Director of Personal Data Security of the Private Sector of the INAI.
