The image shared on social networksshows Sheinbaum holding a baby along with the caption “Let’s go for free and mandatory CIRCUMCISION for newborns.”
In reaction to the content, some social media users referred to the Jewish origin of the National Regeneration Movement’s policy. In the Jewish religioncircumcision is traditionally performed on babies in their first days of life.
According to an article by the team of Reuters Fact Check during the electoral campaign, the image is an edited version of a graphic published on April 22 on the official website of Facebook by Sheinbaum.
This includes a proposal on the creation of public initial education centers for early childhood. The same text appears on page 31 of your plan “100 steps to transformation”.
Once the information was verified, it was determined that in the plan there is no mention of make circumcision mandatory. The candidate did not share her image on her official social networks and no credible reports were found about such a proposal.
