After several weeks of intense heat, Madrid is expected to experience a drastic change in weather over the weekendwith the arrival of an Isolated Depression at High Levels (DANA) that It will bring rain throughout the region and in much of Spain.

The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has activated the yellow alert for this Friday due to high temperatures, which could exceed 36 ºC in various parts of the community.

DANA, which is expected to reach the southwest of the peninsula on Friday and cross Spain over the weekend, will cause showers and storms, with the possibility of hail in some areas. The rains will begin on Saturday in Madrid, with an estimated precipitation of 4.9 liters per square meter from the morning until early Sunday morning.

Storms are expected to be locally strong on Saturday afternoon, with the possibility of hail in the mountainous areas of the Sierra. Sunday will be the wettest day, with an estimated rainfall of 7.8 liters per square meter from afternoon to midnight. Rain is also expected on Monday, with an estimated rainfall of 12 liters per square meter throughout the day.

In addition to the rains, a significant drop in temperatures is expected, with maximums that will go from 35-37 ºC to 28-25 ºC during the weekend.

Before the arrival of the rains and the drop in temperatures, Madrid will be on yellow alert due to the heat, especially in the south of the regionthe Las Vegas Region and the west of the Community, where 36 ºC could be reached.
