The big week of the video game begins. Tonight the Summer Game Fest will take place, one of the most anticipated events in the electronic entertainment sector in which new titles are expected to be presented and others already announced will be shown. The presentation will take place tonight starting at 11:00 p.m. (peninsular time) and can be followed live from the following video, but also through the corresponding official YouTube, Twitch, Steam, TikTok and X channels.

Now that the traditional E3 fair is part of the past after its definitive cancellation, events like this one organized and presented by Canadian journalist and producer Geoff Keighley, also responsible for the successful The Game Awards gala, gain even more strength.

The YouTube Theater in Los Angeles will be the setting for this exhibition of news, which will last 2 hours and will serve to learn about the latest projects from more than fifty companies, including 2K, Atlus, Bandai Namco, Capcom, Devolver, Electronic Arts, Epic Games , PlayStation, SEGA, Ubisoft or Xbox.

The Summer Gam Fest began its journey in 2020, after the E3 fair, which was organized by the American video game association, canceled its edition that year due to the coronavirus pandemic. It was at that moment that Keighley saw the opportunity to carve out a niche for himself and present himself as an alternative, a move that, judging by the audience data, is giving him very good results.

Last year’s edition had peaks of 2 million simultaneous viewers

It is estimated that last year’s edition of the Summer Game Fest had peaks of 2 million simultaneous viewers across the different channels on which it was broadcast. This large audience figure has made brands very interested in showing their games and paying to appear at the event. As Esquire magazine revealed this week, according to industry sources, studios must pay “$250,000 for 1 minute, $350,000 for 1.5 minutes, $450,000 for 2 minutes and $550,000 for 2.5 minutes.”

In addition to the presentation that will take place tonight, other more specific digital events that will take place after this are also grouped under the Summer Game Fest: the indie event Day of the Devs and the presentation of the publisher Devolver Digital.

Over the last few weeks, several companies and studios have announced their presence at the event. Among them, one of those that is closest to us is that of the Catalan studio Nomada Studio, those responsible for the acclaimed Greywho tonight will present a new trailer for their long-awaited new project Snow.

Other games that have confirmed their participation in the event are Monster Hunter Wilds, which was already one of the main attractions of the State of Play event that Sony held a few days ago; either Dragon Ball: Sparking Zerothe new fighting game based on the popular manga by the recently deceased Akira Toriyama.

Although Keighley stated a few days ago that in this edition of the Summer Game Fest new titles from already announced will predominate, there will also be space for games of which very little or nothing has been seen, such as Slitterheadthe new project by Keiichiro Toyama, the creator of Silent Hill.

Other games that are expected to have a presence at the event are the first DLC for Alan Wake 2a new 2K game (it is speculated that it could be a Borderlands or a Mafia), the virtual reality title Batman: Arkham Shadow or the one based on the famous science fiction saga Dune Awakening.
