The singer sang most of his hits with his duet The Reliquaries, an artistic group considered the ancestor of other greats such as Darío Gómez. He was also relevant with his projects as a soloist and in groups like The rare and The Belladinos.

The death of the Antioquian composer was announced through a statement published on the Instagram profile of Los Relicarios.

“We reaffirm our commitment to preserving the legacy of the Master, José Muñoz Jr., one of his sons, who continues to lead our father’s musical heritage with honor, ensuring that each letter and each note continues to vibrate with the authenticity and love with which they were created,” they expressed.

In turn, they expressed their disagreement by saying that “in these moments of mourning, certain private and government entities are facilitating the activities of groups that are trying to misappropriate the name of “The Reliquaries”.

Faced with this, the group calls on the authorities to respect the history and integrity of José Muñoz’s legacy.
