National Route No. 9, at kilometer 210, near the Buenos Aires town of San Nicolás, was the scene of an impressive accident: an alcoholic driver lost control of the truck he was driving and overturned a large part of the grains he was transporting on the asphalt tape. The driver, aggressive towards the agents, resisted arrest but without resorting to a revolver that he had in the cabin.
Sometimes prevention works: when in the morning, gendarmes from the “San Nicolás” Road Safety Squadron, carrying out road prevention patrol tasks on the route, saw a large truck zigzagging between both shoulders.
Upon noticing that the maneuvers were increasingly dangerous and that the risk for other drivers on the route was increasing, the agents ordered the driver to stop driving. The driver ignored him.
The gendarmes immediately deployed a sign so that the rest of the vehicles traveling in the same direction would slow down and stay behind the police vehicle to prevent a major problem from occurring.
As shown in the video that the gendarmerie itself recorded, the driver lost control of the vehicle, the trailer overturned when he tried to return it to the road and ended up scattering the soybeans on the asphalt. The chassis stopped without overturning, so the entire incident ended without anyone being injured.
The investigation was left in the hands of the Prosecutor’s Office No. 2 in charge of the town of San Nicolás de los Arroyos, which ordered the seizure of the truck and the arrest of the drunk driver. A criminal case was filed against the man, whose details were not disclosed, for resisting authority and possession of a firearm.
