Everything is ready for elections to the European Parliamentwhich are held in the Eurogroup countries between the June 6 and 9 2024. The European elections are held five years after the last vote in 2019, although on this occasion 720 MEPs will be elected15 more than in the last elections.
Spain will be the fourth country that will have the most representatives in the European Parliament with 61 seats, only behind Germany, France and Italy. In our country, the European elections will be held this Sunday June 9 and that will be when Spanish voters can exercise their right to vote.
To do so, one of the key points to vote will be to know the time when you can go to the polling station. We tell you what time they open and until when you can vote so that you can do so without any problem.
When are the polling stations established?
The constitution of electoral tables of the European elections will begin at 08.00 hours in the morning of this Sunday, May 9. It will be at that time when the people summoned (president, members and their respective substitutes) will have to appear at the designated place. The representatives and auditors will also have to do so.
Once this match is over and if there is no foul, the substitutes will be able to go home.
What time do the polling stations open for the European elections?
With the polling stations for the European elections already established, at 09.00 hours schools will open everywhere in Spain so that citizens can exercise their vote. We will have to wait for the president of the polling station to say the words out loud. “voting begins” and, to exercise this right, there must always be two members of the electoral board.
The voting day will take place uninterruptedly until the agreed time, that is, 8:00 p.m. However, if the president and the members of the board consider that there are any conditions that prevent the exercise of the vote from taking place normally, they could pause the vote. In case this happens, voting would be temporarily suspended and the time it took to resume would be added as an extension to the time at which voting would end.
Until when can you vote in the European elections?
Continuing with the established schedule, this Sunday, June 9, you will be able to vote in all the polling stations in Spain until 8:00 p.m.. From this time onwards, only those voters who are at the polling station and who have not yet cast their vote.
Once the voting for the European elections has concluded, access to the polls will be closed. Then, the president will place the envelope containing the ballots sent by mail into the ballot box and, subsequently, the board members will be able to vote. Immediately afterwards the votes will be counted.
