Krakow (Poland), June 10 (EFE).- The Polish prosecutor’s office will intervene in the investigation of an explosion that occurred this Monday at a weapons factory in Skarżysko-Kamienna (center), in which a 59-year-old man died and was injured another person.

An explosion caused a fire in one of the plant’s warehouses around noon and the fire was quickly extinguished by firefighters, Deputy Commissioner Jarosław Gwóźdź, spokesman for the police in Skarżysko, a town located a few kilometers from the installations.

At the time of the explosion there were three people in the vicinity of the building.

“The police are on the scene. Under the supervision of the prosecutor we will explain the circumstances of this dramatic event,” the spokesman told radio station RMF FM.

The factory belongs to the Polish company Mesko, specialized in manufacturing rocket fuel, and it came into operation a few years ago, so it has modern security systems, according to the company’s president.

In recent weeks, the Polish Government has reported several cases of sabotage, several of them arson, which were allegedly perpetrated by gangs of common criminals hired by the authorities of Russia and Belarus to destabilize the country.

The National Security Agency recently announced the arrest of more than a dozen people accused of participating in the fire of Warsaw’s largest shopping center, a garbage dump and several public facilities, and who according to authorities were also preparing other drone attacks against manufacturing factories. chemical products.

Among those detained are Polish, Ukrainian and Belarusian citizens who are under preventive arrest and face charges of “acts of terrorism and international sabotage in the service of a foreign power.”

Likewise, the Polish prosecutor’s office has reported several arrests of individuals who allegedly carried out espionage for Russia and who sent information about the routes and convoys of humanitarian and war material sent to Ukraine. EFE
