Pensioners will ask Eitb for explanations for the “information blackout” – Ecuador Etxea

By Laura Fontalba

One more Monday, pensioners have gathered in front of the Bilbao City Council where they have announced that some political parties, PNV, EH Bildu, Sumar and Podemos, have responded to the letter that they were given last week.

Through the letter, pensioners asked the political parties that presented candidates to the European Parliament to include their demands in their electoral programs and to guarantee the Public Pension Systems (SPP) in the different towns of the European Union. Among their requests stood out the supplement to the minimum pension of 1080 euros and that this be included in the European Social Charter with the same criteria as the SMI; end the gender gap; or the repeal of the reduction coefficients for early retirement with 40 years of contributions.

As reported during the rally, the political parties that have decided to give a response have agreed that they will take “immediate note” of their demands and will analyze them carefully to present them in the European Parliament in favor of the defense of a Public Pension System. “Now and after yesterday’s result, we have to wait and trust,” commented Andrea Uña.

Likewise, they have recalled their intention to meet with Arantza Ruiz Miguelez, director of news, Andoni Aldekoa de la Torre, general director, and with the 19 Directors of the EITB Administration, to express their disappointment at the “information blackout” that they claim is not deserve after the seven years they have been fighting: “We would like this disappointment that we express to cease to have justification and the informative treatment that causes it to disappear.”

Finally, the movement has announced its participation in the new campaign for Renfe to take appropriate measures so that people with reduced, limited or difficulties mobility can access the trains on line C-3, Orduña-Bilbao. Thus, next Monday the 17th, they will demonstrate from City Hall to Plaza Circular and the north station, in Abando, in order to file a claim.
