Gaza, “the most dangerous place” for humanitarian aid today
Gaza is today “the most dangerous place in the world for the delivery of humanitarian aid,” according to the UN coordinator for Humanitarian Aid and Reconstruction of the Strip. Furthermore, it has been noted that the destruction in the Palestinian enclave is “so dramatic” that describing it as “hell on earth is accurate.”
“They have had to pick up their plastic tents and move to an even smaller place. That makes aid and security within Gaza difficult. Even if there are supplies at the border, it is extremely difficult and often very dangerous to provide aid and distribute it“explained the former Minister of Finance and Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands.
On the other hand, Kaag has indicated that his plan is move to the Strip in mid-June to work from there. “I always believe that you have to work from the field. You can’t have good ideas from New York. You have to be there,” she said.
“There are things in life of such moral responsibility that you should not wonder if you have a chance of success. It’s more a question of do I want to try to contribute to one of the biggest crises right now. Which is very important, not only for Israel and the people in Gaza or the West Bank, but for the entire region,” explained the former Dutch minister.
