Instituto de Córdoba won 2-0 against Newell’s at the Coloso “Marcelo Bielsa” stadium, within the framework of the fifth day of the Professional League. Gastón Lodico and Ignacio Russo scored the goals for the visiting team.
Under the interim direction of Adrián Coria after the departure of Mauricio Larriera, the atmosphere heated up in Rosario with the red and black fans expressing their discontent from the stands. Despite their efforts, fortune did not smile on La Lepra, seeing how a goal was disallowed after the VAR review due to a handball in the play.
Newell’s interim team opted to maintain the same lineup that had fallen against Banfield, showing flashes of danger at the beginning against Instituto. Just two minutes in, Banega was close to surprising Roffo with a free kick deflected by the barrier that ended in a corner. However, it was the visitors who took the lead with a goal from Lodico after a quick counterattack just two minutes later. Although Ramírez celebrated a goal in the 31st minute, it was annulled after the intervention of the VAR, which detected a handball by Aguirre in the play.

However, Instituto expanded its lead with a goal from Nacho Russo in the 11th minute, taking advantage of an indecision in Newell’s defense. In the final minutes, Fernández Cedrés saw the second yellow card, and left the home team with ten men on the field. Thus, the match ended 2-0 in favor of La Gloria Córdoba.
