Two Spaniards, a woman and her 10-year-old daughter, are among the four people who have died as a result of an explosion in a residential building in the Belgian city of Hoboken, very close to Antwerp. The Government of Ceuta has issued a statement confirming that it is a 42-year-old mother and her 10-year-old daughter, both residents of the autonomous city. The president of Ceuta, Juan Jesús Vivas (PP), has conveyed his regret and condolences to family and friends for the death of Mina and her daughter Houda.

From the Down Syndrome Association of Ceuta, a condition that the girl suffered from, they have indicated that both “were very loved by both the users and the professionals” of the center and they “greatly regret this irreparable loss.”

The explosion, which occurred on Thursday, destroyed the upper part of the building and since then firefighters have been working through the rubble to search for possible victims. After locating three bodies that day, this Friday morning they found a fourth and continue the work to search for a neighbor who has not given any news since the event.

In addition, there are three serious injuries and another three minor injuries as a result of the explosion, the causes of which are still being investigated by the authorities, although they are working with the hypothesis of a gas leak.
