The Eurovision Song Contest is still present today despite the fact that more than a month has passed since the end of its last edition in Malmö. In addition to the doubts about the participation of Norway and the Netherlands in 2025, the contest has once again caused talk after RTVE revealed how much it earned thanks to the televoting it broadcast in our country.
The public channel received more than 175,232 votes during the broadcast of the second semi-final and final of Eurovision 2024something that translated into an income that ranges between 196,151.96 euros and 204,018.61 eurosas revealed by the ESC Plus portal after making a request to the transparency portal.
In this sense, two considerations must be made. The first is that The total collection is not the same as the income that corresponds to RTVE. Although it does not reveal what percentage of said collection is taken, it should be noted that the direct responsibility for the vote lies with the European Broadcasting Union, which determines the company that coordinates televoting at a continental level and then closes agreements with radio and television stations.
The second is the cost of the vote, since the SMS costs 1.09 euros, the same price as the online one. On the other hand, telephone calls have a price of 1.45 euros from the mobile phone and 2 euros from the landline network.
According to the aforementioned media, RTVE received a total of 175,232 votes between the two galas in which Spain had the right to vote. In the second semifinal, 21,599 votes were counted, which corresponds to 12.33% of the total; while during the final the number rises to 153,633 votes, which implies the remaining and majority 87.67%.
Regarding the method of casting the vote, 120,703 votes were cast through the web, which is equivalent to 68.88% of these. 40,226 votes (22.96%) were made by SMS and 14,303 (8.16%) through the enabled telephone lines.
It is worth remembering that Israel was the country with the most votes for our country’s televoting in Eurovision 2024. Ukraine, Croatia, Ireland, Switzerland, France, Italy, Armenia, Greece and Lithuania closed the top 10 countries with the most votes, and that, for Consequently, they achieved ratings from the Spanish audience.
