how his parents arrived in Spain and accusations of infidelity

This Saturday Spain’s participation in the Euro Cup begins and it will do so with one of the sensations of recent years: the Athletic Club player Nico Williams.

At only 21 years old, he has had a very complete season being decisive for his team, which has also earned him one of the most sought-after players. For his part, he decides to remain focused on football beyond speculation, although he has stated in recent days that His future is “quite clear”.

One of the pillars for the youngest Williams is his brother Iñaki. Both – champions of the Copa del Rey this year – have shared the story of their parents on various occasions so that they could have a future.

This is how Nico Williams’ parents arrived in Spain

Shortly before Iñaki’s birth (Bilbao, 1994), his parents had to make an important and dangerous journey. Félix and María – that is the name of the Williams parents -, both from Ghana, They crossed the Sahara and arrived at Melilla: “They jumped over the fence and the Civil Guard stopped them.” In fact, they were detained because they did not have papers and feared being deported.

«A lawyer from Cáritas told them: ‘The only thing you can try is tell them that you are from a country at war‘. They said they came from Liberia to request political asylum. Then, Cáritas put him in contact with a man in Bilbao who could help them,” Iñaki explained in an interview with ‘The Guardian’. Then they were able to reach Bilbao and a priest – to whom the eldest of the brothers is named – helped them settle in.

«They paid the human traffickers and at one point they were told that the trip was over and they were left abandoned. I didn’t know it then, but my mother was already pregnant with me,” explained Iñaki Williams.

«The human traffickers left them abandoned»

For its part, Nico was born in Pamplona in 2002, where his parents moved to work. Overcoming all these adversities, both brothers have become soccer stars in our country and together with their national teams, Iñaki plays with Ghana, while Nico plays with Spain.

Accusations of infidelity

Like many footballers, Nico Williams has also had some media relationships. The footballer was dating for a few months with the influencer Lucía Correa.

However, that relationship ended with an accusation of infidelity. During an interview on the Twitter channel, fellow influencer Adri Contreras explained what their relationship had been like.

«We were there for four months, but as if we hadn’t been because I think there were a few more in between», he assured. When asked who left him, she was clear: “Me, he cheated on me.”

After this famous relationship, the footballer has not met any new partner or at least he has not exposed his relationship publicly. Now, focused on the Euro Cup, he hopes to achieve success with the Spanish team.
