Spanish forward Lamine Yamal, 16 years and 11 months old, will become the youngest player in history to play in a Euro Cup match this Saturday, making his debut against Croatia at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin.

Yamal, the new star of FC Barcelona, is among Spain’s starting eleven to face the Balkan team starting at 4:00 p.m. GMT, so he will surpass the Polish Kacper Kozlowski, who was 17 years and 246 days old when he played against Spain in 2021 .

Yamal will be accompanied in attack, as planned, by Nico Williams and Álvaro Morata.

The big surprise in Spanish coach Luis de la Fuente’s eleven is the presence of Marc Cucurella at left back, instead of Alejandro Grimaldo, key this season with Bayer Leverkusen in winning the Bundesliga and the German Cup.

There is no notable news in the Croatian team. Their captain Luka Modric will make his debut as a starter in his fifth European Championship, helped again in the midfield by Marcelo Brozovic and Mateo Kovacic.

– Confirmed lineups:

Spain: Unai Simón; Carvajal, Le Normand, Nacho, Cucurella; Fabián Ruiz, Rodri, Pedri; Lamine Yamal, Morata, Nico Williams. Coach: Luis de la Fuente

Croatia: Livakovic; Stanisic, Sutalo, Pongracic, Gvardiol; Modric, Brozovic, Kovacic; Majer, Budimir, Kramaric. Coach: Zlatko Dalic
