A forest fire, called «Post Fire»devastated thousands of hectares in Los Angeles County, United States, during Saturday and Sunday, forcing the evacuation of at least 1,200 people and threatening nearby structures.

Authorities reported that the fire, which started around 1:45 p.m. on Saturday, spread quickly for more than 14.5 square kilometers (3,600 acres) of land near Interstate 5 in Gorman, about 100 kilometers northwest of Los Angeles, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE).

The flames, fanned by strong winds, were moving southeast toward Pyramid Lake Reservoir, prompting the evacuation of the Hungry Valley Recreation Area and the closure of the area to the public.

More than 100 firefighters were fighting the fire, working to establish perimeter firebreaks and using firefighting aircraft to try to contain the advance of the fire. However, limited visibility made air operations difficult.
