Botafogo became the sole leader of Braisleirao-2024 this Sunday by winning 2-1 on their visit to Gremio de Porto Alegre and taking advantage of the draws between Flamengo (1-1 against Paranaense) and Bahia (2-2 against Criciúma ).
Below, the traffic light for the ninth day of the 2024 Brazilian soccer league:
Botafogo, Cuiabá and Vitória.
Botafogo managed to take the lead in the Brasileirao by winning at home against Gremio, which is still unable to use its stadium due to the floods that occurred in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, and played at home in Cariacica, state of Espiritu Santo (southeast ).
An early goal from Cuiabano, ex-Gremio, at 10 minutes, put the Cariocas ahead, although shortly after, Gustavo Nunes tied it for those from Porto Alegre.
In the second half, Junior Santos, with his third goal in the tournament, gave the victory to ‘Fogao’, which reached 19 points, one more than Flamengo and Bahia.
Cuiabá’s 5-0 win against Fortaleza also stood out this Sunday, a result that allows them to escape relegation for the first time all season.
Two goals from Clayson and Ramon in the first minutes put Cuiabá ahead, which expanded before the break with Jonathan Cafú.
In first-half stoppage time, Fortaleza was left with 9 due to the expulsion of Renato Kayzer and Emanuel Brítez. Shortly after, Paraguayan Isidro Pitta scored 4-0 as the break was reached.
In the second half, Fernando Sobral won the lottery from the penalty spot, in Cuiabá’s second victory this season.
Bottom club Vitória achieved its first victory in the tournament by beating Internacional 2-1 at home thanks to a goal in the 103rd minute from a penalty by Leonardo.

Flamengo saved a point in the 90+9 minute on their visit to Athletico Paranaense (1-1) and ended up losing the lead.
In a match with few chances, the score did not move until injury time.
The veteran midfielder Fernandinho advanced from a penalty to ‘Furacao’ in the 90+2 minute, although Flamengo did not give up and at 99+9 the young Evertton Araújo took advantage of a rebound from goalkeeper Leo Link to equalize.
Bahia also fell from the lead, which was co-leader of the day but had to sweat to get a point (2-2) in its visit to Criciúma.
The locals took the lead with two goals from Hermes and Arthur Caike, although in the second half Bahia reacted and first Everaldo, and then Alexandre saved a point for the Group City subsidiary in Brazil.
For their part, Corinthians and Sao Paulo tied two in the São Paulo derby, a result that frustrates the aspirations of ‘Timao’ to get out of the bottom zone and of the visitors to get closer to the leadership.
Lucas Moura put Sao Paulo ahead and Igor Coronado, on the half hour mark, equalized for ‘Timao’. Before the break, an own goal from Cacá put Sao Paulo ahead again and Gustavo Mosquito, in stoppage time, declared final equality.

The two greats of Porto Alegre stumbled this Sunday: Inter did so on their visit to bottom Vitória and remained stationed in the middle part of the table, although they have two games less, while Gremio, also with two games pending, entered relegation zone with their defeat against Botafogo.
