A team of students from Maldonado High School 4 won the Latin American Space Challenge (Desla), the competition developed by NASA. It consisted of the design of space establishments, in this case to mitigate the effects of climate change. The group is now in the stage of seeking funds to pay for the trip to the Cape Canaveral facilities, where another stage of the contest will take place between July 26 and 29.

Alexia Ascheri, a member of the winning team, told Informative Uruguay that the July event will bring together teams from various parts of the world and is the final phase of the competition and “we will have to work in groups of 60 students to do a project similar to the one we did here in 4 months, but in 3 days ».

It’s like a role-playing game, we are a company that NASA hires us, this year the project is set in 2065, we have an organization with four areas, operations, design, automations and human factors, with bosses and members and our project consisted of put ourselves at point L1, between the sun and the earth and we had to solve global warming, with a reduction of at least 0.5% of light, to mitigate the effects of warming. It is a city in space dedicated to research.

The students opened an account for those who wish to collaborate. You can make deposits in your BROU account in dollars 110652564-00001 (previous account 600-9645922) since NASA pays for your stay, but not the tickets. Companies that wish to become sponsors can call 098521094 and 095267881. Various fundraising activities are also carried out, such as the sale of casseroles and raffles.
