“Congratulations to the senator-elect, who with extensive experience in public and citizen service, with notable positive results, today has been presented by our president-elect as Legal Advisor of her government team,” were the words with which Karen Castrejon Trujillo extended his congratulations to Ernestina Godoy Ramos for his inclusion as a member of the future cabinet of Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo.

Her appointment was part of the first round of revelations that the next president made on the morning of June 20 from the Interactive Museum of Economics (MEASURE) in the Historic Center of Mexico City.

Godoy served as head of the Mexico City Attorney General’s Office for five years, while Sheinbaum was head of government.

After the capital’s Congress did not approve its ratification, she registered as a candidate for a seat in the Senate of the Republic, a position she obtained in the elections on June 2.

Godoy headed one of the formulas of the National Regeneration Movement (Morena) for the Upper House of Congress and was a duo with the substitute candidate Karen Castrejón, current national leader of the Green Ecologist Party of Mexico (PVEM).

Given the recent designation, Karen Castrejón will be the one who occupies that place in the Senatesince Ernestina Godoy will join the federal cabinet as of October 1, 2024, replacing María Estela Ríos González as legal advisor to the Federal Executive.

Castrejón was born on April 1, 1980 in the city of Acapulco Guerrero. At the date of Godoy Ramos’ appointment, she was serving as a local representative of proportional representation and is president of the Environment and Natural Resources Commission.

He studied the law degree at the Higher School of Social Sciences, from which he graduated in 2003, and studied a diploma in Law and Environmental Management at the Secretariat of Open and Continuing Education of the Faculty of Sciences of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). , as established in the public version of his curricular profile.

She is currently the president of the PVEM at the national level, but since 2003 she has held relevant positions within said political organization, since in that year she assumed the Women’s Secretariat of the State Executive Committee of Guerrerofrom where she carried out advisory activities on gender issues and event organization.

In the period from 2008 to 2012 she worked as an advisor to the Ecology and Environment Commission of the Municipal Government of Acapulco and upon finishing that position she began her work as a local representative in the Congress of the State of Guerrero.
