What happened?
The second frontal system of the week has wreaked havoc in the south-central area of the country, causing multiple emergencies such as an increased risk of overflows and flooding of streets and homes.
The commune of Maria Pintoin the Metropolitan Region, is one of the sectors that has suffered the impact of the meteorological event.

Estuary overflow affects residents of María Pinto
In an office for “Mucho Gusto”, the journalist Karim Buttewho was at the scene, commented on the situation that is affecting the inhabitants of said town. “The water is running like a real river”he started saying.
According to the communicator, due to the overflow of a nearby estuary “they are evacuating the families, they are taking them to an educational establishment because there is a lot of water that is falling, it is entering the houses.” Total, More than 200 families have been evacuated in the commune.
Nancy Arredondo, a resident of the sector, pointed out that this situation is not new, since with previous rains they faced the same problem. “The water comes from there, from the channel of the hill. At the moment the water did not manage to enter, but it continues to rain, it may enter” to his home, he commented.

The woman, who is the owner of the land on which the affected plots are located, stated that “it makes me sad to see all this full of water. As I told you, before it didn’t flood here, the water had never left“.
Minutes later, in another office, Butte was able to verify that one of the houses in the area, unfortunately, was seen affected by the entry of water into different rooms.
Power outages in some communes of Santiago
This Friday a frontal system arrived in the Metropolitan Region, which has left intense rains, a phenomenon that is usually accompanied by power outages in Santiago.
In sectors of some communes there have already been power outages, so emergency crews from the electricity companies Enel and CGE are deployed to address these effects.

Warning for possible tornadoes in five regions
The Chilean Meteorological Directorate issued a warning for “probable development of convective clouds with tornadic characteristics” in five regions of the central-southern zone.
Specifically, the measure applies to the regions of Ñuble, Biobío, La Araucanía, Los Ríos and Los Lagos. The notice has been in effect since last Thursday night and will remain in effect until this Friday night.
