San Juan without CNG: Ecogas said when they will open sales and asked to restrict the use of gas

This Friday, almost three hours after service stations in San Juan were forced to suspend the sale of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) due to a break in a trunk pipe, Ecogas issued its first report through social networks .

Initially it was reported that the problem had occurred in Mendoza, but Ecogas confirmed that the breakage occurred in the southern area of San Juan. The incident turns out to be more complex than initially thought, as it was estimated that the restriction would not last long.

The distributor explained that the “Technical teams are working on the repair of a trunk conduit that suffered a break as a result of the negligent intervention of a third party outside the firm. The tasks are carried out in the vicinity of the city of San Juan (the exact location was not specified) and it is estimated that they will last approximately two days.”.

The incident occurred when a backhoe machine, operated by an individual while working in some crops, damaged the pipeline. Once the problem was known, Ecogas activated a security and repair operation of the trunk. The first measure consisted of securing the area and notifying the different organizations that collaborate in prevention and support tasks.

In a publication on the social network X (formerly Twitter), Ecogas asked the population “reduce gas consumption as much as possible”, especially to residential users in San Juan, to guarantee the integrity of the system. Furthermore, to maintain the performance of the system, the supply of gas to industries, large users and service stations that supply CNG in the province of San Juan was restricted.
