Don Javier de la Torre was the coach of Chivas during the famous Campeonísimo era, in which they won five league titles in the 1960s.

Under the command of the engineer, figures emerged who became legends in Mexican soccer such as Salvador Reyes, “Tubo” Gómez, “Tigre” Sepúlveda, Sabás Ponce, Ignacio Calderón, among others.

In total, between League and Cup, Javier de la Torre won ten championships with Chivas.

Don Javier de la Torre had as his son “Yayo”, Eduardo de la Torre who played as a forward and was champion with the Guadalajara team in the 1986-1987 season. He also led the team in the 2003 Apertura Tournament.

But the De la Torre surname does not end there, since the engineer’s nephews, cousins ​​of “Yayo”, José Manuel de la Torre and Nestor de la Torre They also played for Chivas.

“El Chepo” and Néstor were champions together with Yayo in the 1986-1987 season, but, in addition, José Manuel as coach made Rebaño Sagrado champion in the 2006 Apertura, with Néstor as sports director.
