Three people died in a head-on collision between a Chevrolet Tracker truck and a Chevrolet S10 pick-up in the town of Embalse, in the Calamuchita Valley, Córdoba.
The victims, originally from Villa del Dique, were in the Tracker. The van was driven by an unidentified citizen accompanied by Justa Irene Rodríguez, 75 years old, and Anabel del Los Angeles Suárez, 49 years old.
Meanwhile, the S10 was driven by Rubén Angel Alfieri, 66, who suffered multiple injuries, and his companion, Cristian Matana, 40, was unharmed.
The accident took place on provincial route 5, km 112, in the Villa Sierras del Lago neighborhood. According to estimates, the Chevrolet Tracker was heading southeast to Embalse, while the S10 was heading in the opposite direction.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances of the crash, but it is believed that S10 attempted to overtake, causing the collision. The accident area is guarded by the Police, municipal inspection, a local ambulance and two teams of Embalse Volunteer Firefighters. Provincial route 5 is closed in the section that connects Embalse with national route 36 and the city of Almafuerte.
