Chaos in the Santiago Metro due to unusual operation: L2 express route suspended

The Santiago Metro is not operating normally this Monday. If you haven’t left home yet, consider this information to plan your trip.

During the morning of this Monday, June 24, some Santiago Metro stations are completely full, since the train service is not operating as usual.

According to journalist Gabriel Alegría from the morning show “Tu Día”, the Los Héroes station is full from end to end, both the ticket office and both platforms. This is a result of the operational measure taken by Metro de Santiago to pause the L2 express route to increase the supply of trains due to the strike of EFE drivers.

Likewise, it is added that the L6 service is only available from Cerrillos to Franklin and from Ñuble to Los Leones due to water drainage work at the Bio Bio station. Regarding this closure at the Bio Bio station, RED enabled Metro Support buses that run a route parallel to Line 6 in a loop between Pedro Aguirre Cerda and Ñuble.

Unfortunately, all of these changes have caused traffic jams on the Santiago Metro, resulting in slower trips and completely full trains.

This is what the situation looks like in the Santiago Metro
