The Minister of Public Works and Services, Gabriela Castillo, and the Minister of Energy, Alejandro Aguirre, held a virtual meeting this Tuesday with representatives of the companies YPF, TotalEnergies, Roch, TGS and Camuzzi, who were asked to immediately improve the normal gas supply to the Province.
Castillo explained that “at this time we do not receive the amount of gas that we receive regularly, so the gas that is entering the Province through the Fuegian Gas Pipeline does so with lower pressure.”
“YPF is not guaranteeing the amount of gas that it usually delivers to the Fueguino Gasduct because they claim that they have freezing problems that complicate the entry of gas into the compressors, but TotalEnergies and Roch had the same problem and solved it,” Castillo made a difference.
However, the official pointed out that “YPF was required to provide the necessary personnel to solve the problem, because it cannot be that a week ago 500 thousand cubic meters of gas entered the gas pipeline and today 120 thousand cubic meters are delivered, they have already passed “Three or four days and the situation continues.”
“At this moment neither Roch nor YPF are operating under a normal regime, although the latter has a larger gap than the one the Roch company has, while TotalEnergies had an episode and returned to normal. What happens is that only a fraction of TotalEnergies’ production enters the Fueguino Gasduct and the rest enters directly the San Martín Gasduct,” he explained.
The Minister explained that “through the meeting via zoom we have put face and word with those responsible for the operating companies, beyond the formal intimations that the Secretariat of Hydrocarbons has already made to the companies to improve the conditions of the gas they They are delivering.”
“Likewise, we have requested that they provide the number of personnel needed for this to have an immediate response, and in the medium term we also spoke with Camuzzi about the need to interconnect the two gas pipelines in San Sebastián and that this improve the pressure condition in the head of the Fuegian Gasduct. “We are in dialogue to determine if this work will be done next summer to be able to guarantee not having these same conditions in winter 2025,” he highlighted.
At the same time as this meeting, the Hydrocarbons Secretariat formally issued a notice to the companies YPF, Roch and TotalEnergies to “adjust mitigation measures, increase and sustain gas production and pressures” in the Province.
In the notices sent, it is pointed out that due to the drop in the gas flow “the impact that is generated in the Fuegian transportation system is very significant”, pointing out that “if any decrease is recorded in the injection of gas, this has an impact on the current compression capacity that the gas transportation company has, directly impacting users.”
For the Government it is “essential to guarantee the service not only for the consumption of this fluid in the cities, but also for provincial electricity generation.”
So far, of these firms, only TotalEnergies has complied with the Fuegian Government’s requirement, the remaining two have not done so.
