Three people died Friday after one was ejected from a black SUV and three others were trapped inside it during a violent crash in Monterey Park.
Officers with the Monterey Park Police Department responded to the intersection of East Graves Avenue and Cecil Street at 12:34 a.m., where they found the pickup truck, which collided with a tree, three vehicles and rolled over on its roof, according to reports. of the scene.
The victim who had been ejected was found on the roof of a nearby residence, authorities said.
Three people died at the scene and two others, including a 7-year-old girl, were taken to a hospital in an unknown condition.
“This is one of the most tragic accidents we’ve had in a long time and it’s very difficult when there are fatalities as a result,” said Capt. Bill Cuevas of the Monterey Park Police Department.
“At night, when we are at home, we hear cars passing by very loudly and something like this had to happen for it to attract attention,” said Francisco Robledo, one of the neighbors in the area.
“Unfortunately, it is very ugly, but something has to be done. They are very hard on you.”
