‘It was the best year of my life’

The Spanish forward, Joselusaid goodbye to the real Madrid and claimed to have lived the “best year of his life” at the merengue club.

During the team’s concentration prior to the Round of 16 of the Euro Cup, Joselu spoke with EFE and said he was grateful for having fulfilled one of his dreams.

“The time has come, I simply want to thank Real Madrid for the best year of my life. I have fulfilled the dream of playing for the team of my life, since I was little, scoring goals at the Bernabéu, winning titles.

The 34-year-old will continue his career at Al-Gharafa in Qatar, a team with which he signed a contract for the next two seasons, and acknowledged that making the decision to leave was not a simple one.

“It has been a very complicated decision, a lot of time thinking about it and in the end we consider it to be the best option. It has been carefully thought out with my family and the people around me. It has cost me a lot to make it but it is the right one,” he added.

Joselu scored 18 goals and lifted the LaLiga, Champions League and Spanish Super Cup titles with Real Madrid.
