Martin Mull, famed for his roles in “Roseanne” and “Sabrina, the Teenage Witch,” has died

The actor Martin Mullknown for his comedic roles in the film “Clue” and the series “Roseanne” and “Arrested Development,” died at the age of 80.

“It pains me to share that my father passed away at home on June 27, after a brave fight against a long illness,” said his daughter, Maggie Mull, on her Instagram account.

His daughter described Mull as a person “known for excelling in every creative discipline imaginable.”

“He never stopped being funny. He will be deeply missed by his wife and daughter, his friends and co-workers, his fellow artists, comedians and musicians,” he added.

Mull, who was also a guitarist and painter, rose to fame in the United States with a recurring role on the soap opera “Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman” and the lead role on its spin-off, “Fernwood Tonight.”

In the 1980s he played Colonel Mustard in the film “Clue” and a decade later had a recurring role in several seasons of the series “Roseanne.”

One of his starring appearances was in the television series “Sabrina, the Teenage Witch” (1996-2003), where he played a strict principal of the school where Sabrina Spellman (Melissa Joan Hart) went.

In the 21st century, Mull played private detective Gene Parmesan in the series “Arrested Development.”

Mull received her first Emmy nomination in 2016 for her performance in the series “Veep.”
