With a massive attendance, the “Stonewall Fest” offered a varied proposal of artistic expressions. Its main objective was to vindicate the rights of the LGBT+ community and value respect, equality and diversity.

The party took place this Friday, at the Cultural Center, in commemoration of International Pride Day, under the organization of the Secretariat of Women, Gender, Youth and Diversity, within the framework of the equality policies promoted by the current municipal management .

The event featured various artistic expressions, including the performance of the local band Alkimia and a group of Drag Queens, who added color to the great celebration of diversity in Comodoro Rivadavia.

On the subject, Secretary Renata Hiller highlighted the possibility of offering an event of this nature “to the entire community, not just to the LGBT+ population. It was a very nice party, with the Cultural Center full of people of all ages who celebrated the pride of being who each one is and claiming the achievements in terms of rights. In Comodoro we continue to promote respect, tolerance, diversity, equality and freedom,” she highlighted.

Likewise, he indicated that these proposals value local artists, expressing that “there is a lot of production in our city and they do not always have the chance to show themselves. The Cultural Center is very important because it is essential to have a public space that is prepared for free events, adding alternatives for the whole family.”

On the other hand, the official remembered Ilse Fusková, one of the first Argentine activists, who fought for equal rights for homosexuality and to have a voice and a story of her own, who died this Thursday, June 27, at the age of 92, noting that “he left us a very important legacy with his incessant fight for rights.”

“We celebrate advances in rights”

Meanwhile, Nahuel Borquez, from the LGBTIQ+ Diversity and New Majorities Directorate, said that these types of celebrations “serve to make known who we are in the city of Comodoro Rivadavia and all the work that has been carried out by our Directorate and by the Secretariat.”

“This is a historic day, of vindication of rights and struggle. After 55 years, today we celebrate all the advances we have regarding rights, such as the fact of getting together to celebrate and that the State is present, accompanying. That is very important,” he emphasized.

Finally, Borquez explained that, despite the achievements, “we continue to work hard because discrimination continues,” while valuing that “since the creation of the Diversity Department in 2017, the Municipality has always been present, listening to what the population needs.”
