Three years after the Aguada San Roque school explosion, teachers marched in the streets of Neuquén – ADNSUR

This Saturday marked three years since the explosion at School No. 144 Aguada San Roque, which caused the death of three workers. Teachers demanded justice in a march that took place through the streets of Neuquén.

The rally began at 11:30 at the San Martín monument, and moved on to a march through the central streets of the capital at 12 noon. The victims of the explosion were Nicolás Francés and Mariano Spinedi and the teacher Mónica Jara.

The oral trial will begin in August, and ATEN claimed that the “government has to guarantee safe schools.” On the other hand, the workers indicated that this is a very sensitive date for the sector.

The explosion occurred on June 29th around 1:50 p.m., in the Aguada San Roque area. Both the gas fitter Francés, his nephew and assistant, Spinedi, and the teacher, went to the area where the girls were sleeping (without any students at that time) when a deflagration and a fire occurred. The two workers died instantly and Monica managed to escape through a window and died thirteen days later.

THE TRIAL BEGINS

The criminal chamber of the High Court of Justice rejected the last pending appeals and thus cleared the way for the trial hearings. It will begin in August in room 15 of the Judicial City of Neuquén, the second in capacity, and there are six that will reach the oral debate.

According to published Rio Negro Daily, One of the defendants who will go to trial is the technical representative, architect Diego Patricio Bulgheroni, while the master builder Eduardo Afione may receive a suspended trial on probation.

The other defendants are Héctor Eduardo Villanueva Montalbán, managing partner of Arte Construcciones; Sergio Percat, construction inspector; Raúl Alfredo Capdevilla, provincial director of Contracted Works of the Public Works Secretariat; Carlos Alfredo Córdoba, director of Contracted Works of the Public Works Secretariat; and Roberto Vicente Deza, undersecretary of Public Works.

The Court will be composed of Lisandro Federico Fidel Borgonovo, Diego Fernando Chavarría Ruiz and Ignacio Pombo. The judges are from Cutral Co, Zapala and San Martín de los Andes respectively and will travel for the trial, as will the chief prosecutor Gastón Liotard, from Cutral Co.

Due to territorial jurisdiction, the case corresponds to Cutral Co, but it was decided to hold the trial in Neuquén for several reasons: the capacity of the courtroom; connectivity; and that the vast majority of the witnesses are from the capital.
