In the last few hours, the investigation into the disappearance of Loan Danilo Peña took a dramatic turn. Laudelina Peña, the boy’s aunt, revealed that the child was run over and killed when he was returning from the woods where he went to pick oranges and that the body was buried.

This was reported to THE NATION qualified sources of the Ministry of National Security aware of Laudelina Peña’s statement.

Loan’s aunt testified before representatives of the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Corrientes and not before the Goya’s federal prosecutor, Mariano De Guzmán, official who is delegated the investigation. The case had been transferred to federal jurisdiction in the middle of the week due to suspicion of a possible crime of human trafficking.

Loan was allegedly run over by the white Ford Ranger truck of retired ship captain Carlos Guido Pérez, one of the six detainees in the case. The driver of the vehicle would have been intoxicated.

Pérez and his wife, former municipal official of Nueve de Julio María Victoria Caillava, were among the diners at the lunch held on Thursday the 13th of this month at the home of Loan’s grandmother, Catalina Peña. The boy disappeared after the meal, when he went to pick oranges with Bernardino Benítez, partner of his aunt Laudelina; Daniel Ramírez, known as Fierrito, Mónica Del Carmen Millapi and five other children.

According to Loan’s aunt’s statement, Pérez and Caillava ran over the child when they were leaving Catalina’s house around 3:00 p.m.

Based on the statement of the child’s aunt, the Minister of National Security, Patricia Bullrichand the Governor of Corrientes, Gustavo Váldesthey worked all night to complete the search operation for the body, according to what was learned THE NATION from official sources.

“A great step has been taken in the resolution of the Loan case”Governor Váldes said on his social network account X.

Loan’s aunt testified in the city of Corrientes before the prosecutor Gustavo RobineauThe woman said that the child’s loot, found three kilometers from where the boy supposedly disappeared, was given to her to place in the middle of the woods so that she could have support for the report that the boy had gone missing.

“Caillava brought me Loan’s loot and told me that he was going to kill me if I didn’t put it in the field,” denounced in her statement the aunt of the boy, whose disappearance has the country in suspense. She also maintained that she heard the sound of the truck crashing into Loan. The child’s body, according to the woman, was loaded in the bed of Pérez’s 4×4.

Now, surely, Justice will order an expert opinion to determine if the truck has a dent or mark or if it was repaired to hide the traces of the accident.

“Laudelina testified before both the Attorney General’s Office and the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office Currentsand he would have narrated how the events of the Loan Case occurred. Everything that has been done is being sent to the Federal Court so that it can proceed according to the law,” said Governor Váldes in another tweet.

According to what he was able to find out THE NATION According to judicial sources, until noon, prosecutor De Guzmán and his colleagues Marcelo Colombo and Alejandra Mángano, officials in charge of the Human Trafficking and Exploitation Prosecutor’s Office (Protex), had not been officially notified of Loan’s aunt’s statement.

The spokesmen consulted reported that prosecutors De Guzmán, Colombo and Mángano are working to urgently request the inhibition so that the provincial justice system can continue working.

“Until midday, nothing of the proceedings reached the Federal Justice, despite the fact that there are public officials who made statements about the alleged confession of Loan’s aunt”; the informants added.

Following the confession of Loan’s aunt, the Ministry of National Security hopes that the defendants detained in preventive detention will break the pact of silence and confirm the version given to the Justice by Laudelina and say where the child’s body was buried.

“There is a strong confession from Laudelina, credible, compatible with one of the hypotheses that were being investigated. She confessed that it was an accident in which Pérez and Caillava participated, who left with the truck and ran him over. [a Loan]but then they turned it into a cover-up“, he confirmed to THE NATION Minister Bullrich.

Until now, the case was being processed as a case of human trafficking. Pérez and his wife are accused of recruiting a person for the purpose of exploitation, with the aggravating circumstance that the victim is a minor. Meanwhile, Benítez, Ramírez and Millapi were considered “necessary participants” in the same crime.

The sixth suspect arrested is Corrientes Police Commissioner Walter Maciel, accused of cover-up.

At first, when the hypothesis that the child had been lost was being investigated, Loan’s uncle, Fierrito Ramírez and Millapi had been charged with abandonment of person.

When a week had passed since Loan’s disappearance, Corrientes prosecutors Juan Carlos Castillo and Guillermo Barry began to analyze the kidnapping hypothesis.
