UC visited Everton and rescued a draw in a very intense match, which ended with two sent off and even a penalty in between.

Everton received Universidad Católica this Saturday at the Sausalito stadium, in a match valid for date 15 of the 2024 Women’s Championship. Crusades and roulettes animated a fun and very intense match, which ended tied 1-1 with two sent off.

The game started with a lot of back and forth. At 3′ Valentina Delgado had the first one for the roulette players but Bustos captured it comfortably. Already in 5′ Ivette Olivares tried for UC, but she went off course. And in 8′ Heyermann arrived with danger, but lost the ball at the end of the field.

In 11 minutes the Crusades tried again with an arrival from Silva and Heyermann after a roulette defensive error, but Soares kept the ball. However, the first controversy was at 13′ due to a foul by Bustos leaving the area against Delgado. It seemed like an expulsion for the UC goalkeeper, but in the end it wasn’t.

In general, Universidad Católica’s defense looked imprecise, as they allowed Everton to get through a lot. At 24′, Catalina Figueroa cleared a Delgado cross toward goal, which could have been an own goal. Antonella Martínez shot with little force at 30′, but it went into Bustos’ hands.

Everton seemed superior and made it happen in the 31st minute with a lob from Krishna Cabrera, which went over the UC goalkeeper and made it 1-0. The Viñamarinas had more arrivals in the first half, with Martínez as their main figure in the offensive zone, but with little concrete power.

Second time

Looking ahead to the match, the game once again looked very even and divided. At 51′ the UC tried but Heyermann couldn’t connect. And in 54′ it was Pardo, whose shot grazed the post and could not have been a partial tie. At 56′ Olivares tried but was cleared and in 59′ a shot by Figueroa was saved by Soares.

Universidad Católica slowly gained control of the ball and in 61′ it was Emilia Pastrián who tried, but the goalkeeper kept the ball. Gali Espinoza became strong and was key to clearing the two arrivals that Everton had at 67 and 68 minutes.

At 72′ Gali Espinoza rescued a ball from Everton and at 75′ Francisca Campusano tried after a free kick, but Bustos was the owner of that ball. However, equality came at 81′, since two minutes before UC was charged with a penalty for a foul by Pavez on Tali Rovner. This same shot from 12 steps and made it 1-1.

Towards the end of the game there was a lot of action but mainly a brawl that ended with an expulsion. At 52 ‘an elbow on Camila Guzmán ended with a charge in favor of Everton and an expulsion of Marielle Souza for a double yellow. UC finished with 10 and the point.

On the 15th, the crusades will host Universidad de Concepción and Everton will visit Cobresal. For now, UC is fourth with 24 points and the roulette players have 13 and are momentarily in eighth place and the play-off zone due to goal difference.
