The coach of the Colombian National Team, Néstor Lorenzo spoke of the pain he felt due to the constant criticism that James Rodríguez receivedone of the references of the ‘Tricolor’.

It is no secret that there are those who did not like the Argentine coach’s selection of the ’10’ for the Copa América and previous squads, because in some ways he had not met expectations at his club, Sao Paulo.

However, for the coach, the one born in Cúcuta is a more than important piece in his scheme and despite the discontent of some people, Rodríguez is a pillar.

In a press conference after the victory over the Costa Rican team, Lorenzo said that he was affected by the treatment that the player from Cúcuta had been receiving.

“I have known James since he was a child, what depended on his performance for the national team was his commitment. I know the love he has for these colors“, the strategist began by saying.

That’s why it hurt me so much when they criticized him so much.“That’s why I trusted him, because I knew that his commitment to the national team was supreme and that he was going to show his potential,” he added.

“Suddenly now he runs less and thinks more, that helps him too. He has a team and a context that surrounds him well, which gives him alternatives to his game,” Néstor concluded.
