Actress Olivia Williams, known for her participation in films such as “The Sixth Sense” and “The Crown”, recently shared details about her experience in the famous series Friends. Although she is recognized for her film roles, her guest appearance in the fourth season of the show was not as she expected.
Williams, who played Felicity, one of the bridesmaids at Ross and Emily’s wedding, revealed in an interview with The Independent that her experience on set was “heartbreaking.” The actress described “disheartening” and “alarming” moments she experienced during her time on the ’90s sitcom.
During the trip to the studio, the actress witnessed a tense altercation between a producer and a fellow cast member. According to Williams, the producer severely reprimanded the actress, telling her: “You’re not funny!” After this incident, the actress with whom she shared the trip did not return to the set the next day.
In addition to tensions between the cast and crew, Williams also shared her displeasure with on-set appearance expectations. She explained how she faced the demands of the show’s beauty team, who told her that she had to conform to Friends’ specific look, which involved significant changes to her physical appearance.
“Even if you only have a few lines of dialogue, you have to fit that brand,” Williams said, noting the pressure he felt to fit the show’s style. Although she preferred not to delve into details, he described her experience on Friends as “heartbreaking.”
The actress also shared a particularly distressing memory during her time on set. She recalled how, in the hair and makeup department, she was told that she had to follow a specific style that involved “plucking all her eyebrow hairs.” Although she expressed concern about maintaining her appearance for future work, she was forced to give in to the production team’s demands.
