Music and talent can transcend borders, allowing artists with great potential to be heard even in cultures extremely different from their origin. This is what happened to Isabel Catalán, a young woman Rioja singer that conquered the jury of The voice of Germany.

Isabel has just turned 15 years old and has been linked to art all her life. On social networks, the artist shares her covers and versions of her well-known songs, showing off her sweet voice accompanied by electric and/or Creole guitars and, sometimes, piano.

In December 2021, Isabel moved from her native province to Germany with her family, to visit her grandmother, “return to her roots and learn the language,” as she said in an interview for the Minuto24 media. Despite missing her land, her customs and her friends, the little artist assures that she has already gotten used to living in Hannover, a city belonging to Lower Saxony.

As if that were not enough, Isa was part of one of the choirs that performed in front of Pope Francis at the Vatican. Since then, she has done nothing but grow and bet on his music. She shares videos on TikTok, YouTube and Instagram, where her interpretations of jazz, ballads, rock and pop songs receive thousands of likes and flattering comments. What’s more, Andrés Calamaro himself praised her version of the hit Flaca.

In 2023, a friend heard Isa’s voice and suggested she sign up for the most important voice contest in Germany: La Voz Kids Germany. So, she decided to accept the suggestion and sign up. They accepted her and she had to go through the stages until she appeared on national television, passing several castings and interviews.

In April, finally, Isa debuted on La Voz Kids Germany, performing “Just The Way You Are” by Diana Krall. Her voice captivated the jurors present -Álvaro Soler, Michi Smudo, Lena Meyer and Wincent Weiss-, who turned around immediately, ensuring her passage to the next stage. Isa, after singing and talking about his roots, chose the Spanish-German singer as her coach.

A few weeks later, Isa returned to the La Voz Kids stage, along with her colleagues Victoria Knogler and Bella Amore, to sing together “I’ll stand by you.”

After that, the 15-year-old girl had several interviews in which she assured that she would feel proud to play in her country, at festivals like La Chaya.
