The showrunner of ‘The Bridgertons’ wanted to give the Featherington family some peace
I am convinced that all fans of ‘The Bridgertons’ will have already seen the four remaining episodes of its third installment and perhaps now have more of their minds on season 4, which it will still take us a long time to see. However, today I want to draw attention to an important change regarding the books of Julia Quinn which marks the future of Colin and Penelope as a couple.

In the last scene of the eighth episode, a flashforward is made showing Penelope and her sisters who have already become mothers. A perfect culmination for both the love story of the characters played by luke newton and Nicola Coughlanbut also for another plot that has been growing throughout the three seasons of the series.
The heir
Although the baby’s name is not stated, what is quite clear is that it is a boy, while Penelope’s sisters have had girls. This means that Colin and Penelope’s son becomes the long-awaited heir that the Featherington family so desired to obtain. I don’t think we’ve said the baby’s name, but it’s obviously a boy, which is a change from the books, where the baby is named Agatha after Lady Danbury. But in our world, as we have established the heir story with the Featheringtons, we were motivated to change it so that they could have the heir.
In fact, Brownell claims that marks the beginning of stability for Penelope’s familyfurther revealing that “We’re no longer trying to torture the Featheringtons. Although you never know in the future. Maybe in season 21 of the series“.
Furthermore, Brownell has stated that wants to continue having Penelope and Colin in season 4commenting on the future of both:
Lady Whistledown is the narrator of the series, so I think there is more story to tell with her. As with Kate and Anthony this season, Colin and Penelope will take a backseat next season. But because of Pen’s dual identity, I think there’s a little more meat to be mined. Her story doesn’t end with a “happily ever after.” Her career throws up new obstacles next season, so we’ll see more of her.
