My editor was concerned that writing about Francesca’s love for John would take away from Michael’s role as the eventual hero of the romance novel. But I felt that if it wasn’t shown how deeply she loved John, and how deeply Michael, her cousin, loved him too, then her feelings of guilt about falling in love with each other after John’s death wouldn’t make sense. She didn’t just want to tell the reader that she loved him. I wanted the reader to feel it. “I am now confident that when Francesca has her season of Bridgerton, it will be the most emotional and heartbreaking story of the series.”
As of today, it is not yet known who will be the protagonist of season 4 of The Bridgertos, but everything indicates that it would be Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson) after that clue from the conversation he has about the Masked Ball with Eloise, where he meets his love.
