The first seven people were selected to serve on the jury in former President Donald Trump’s hush money trial in New York on Tuesday after they made clear to both sides that they could deliver a fair and impartial verdict.
They were chosen on the second day of the trial, after prosecutors and the defense team narrowed a pool of 96 potential jurors.
At one point, state Judge Juan Merchán admonished Trump after seeing him say something out loud in the direction of one of the jurors, who had been asked about a social media post he made the day Joe Biden was declared winner of the 2020 election.
“I won’t tolerate that,” Merchan said. “I will not allow any jurors to be intimidated in this courtroom.” Trump’s lawyers ultimately removed the woman from the jury.
The seven chosen so far were sworn in Tuesday and Merchan ordered them to return to court Monday.
Twelve people will be part of the jury and each party will select alternates. The trial is expected to last up to eight weeks.

A young man who has lived in Chelsea for five years, works as a corporate law attorney and likes to walk and run. He gets news from The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and Google.
JURY 4
A middle-aged man who lives on the Lower East Side and works in IT training and consulting. He is married, has a son and two grandchildren. He said he “doesn’t have free time.” He gets news from the New York Daily News, The New York Times, Google and X.
JURY 5
A young woman who lives in Harlem and works as a teacher. She lives with her boyfriend, she loves writing, theater and traveling. She gets news from Google and TikTok and listens to podcasts about relationships and pop culture.
JURY 6
A young woman who lives in Chelsea and works as a software engineer. She gets news from The New York Times, Google, Facebook and TikTok.
JURY 7
A man who lives on the Upper East Side and works as a lawyer and civil litigator. He enjoys spending time outdoors and receives news from the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, the New York Post and the Washington Post.
