A new week of the trial of Daniel Sancho for the alleged murder of Edwin Arrieta began. It is expected that on Wednesday, May 1the accused from his statement and try to convince the judge that he did not commit this crime with premeditation.

Throughout the days, the tone of the statements by the Arrieta family’s lawyer, Juan Gonzalo Ospina, has also changed. Well, initially they were looking for the judge to accept premeditation, but now they are only looking for the conviction of the accused.

Even a new turn of events could directly affect the Prosecutor’s Office, since a few days ago, the prosecutor expressed his uncertainty about the outcome of the trial. “The prosecutor himself told us journalists without cameras yesterday that it is being very difficult to prove this premeditation.”said a reporter from the program ‘Let’s see’.

On the other hand, the newspaper ‘La Razón’ has released new information about this same person, which could hint at a possible pact between the Prosecutor’s Office and Daniel Sancho’s defense.

What happens is that Jeerawat Sawatdichai, the prosecutor, and Aprichart Srinual, Sancho’s lawyer, have been seen in restaurants or having drinks on more than one occasion. However, there are different hypotheses about the case, as there are people who think that this could be because on the island of Koh Samui there are not many places where you can have a good time.

It is worth mentioning that the turn in the case is mainly due to the difficulty in proving that Daniel Sancho planned the murder of the Colombian surgeon. This is crucial to determine the final sentence, which could vary between returning to Spain or facing the death penalty.

On the other hand, there are many things that are difficult to clarify, one of them is the autopsy, since it does not show the cause of death. An independent police forensic doctor suggested that the wounds and injuries to Arrieta’s skull could be the result of a fight admitted by Daniel Sancho.

Now, the defendant’s statement is awaited to see how this may change the course of the trial. His father, present at all sessions, will be absent that day to avoid contaminating his own statement.
