Although he monitored the beginning of the critical debate of the Bases law in the Chamber of Deputies from the Olivos Residence, Javier Milei made time to go to the Port of Buenos Aires, where he received a North American ship which will carry out patrol tasks against illegal fishing in the waters of the South Atlantic together with the Argentine Naval Prefecture.

The President, as he usually does on Mondays, has maintained an agenda since the presidential fifth. But this time had a look at what was happening in Congress: Although on several occasions he has criticized Parliament and different opposition representations, he hopes that this Tuesday the Lower House will give half-sanction to a law with which he intends to lay the foundations for his reformist project and, at the same time, give certainty to the market on the viability of these policies.

In the middle of the afternoon, however, he moved with his sister Karina to the port of Buenos Aires. where he welcomed the United States Coast Guard ship Cutter James, that will participate in joint exercises with the Prefecture. The North American ship seeks to promote operations with forces from other countries to combat illicit activities on the high seas, such as illegal fishing.

Milei and the general secretary of the Presidency They braved the strong coastal wind wearing the beige jackets that characterize this federal force. They were accompanied by the Minister of Security, Patricia Bullrich, also dressed in the same clothing to which she added a beige cap, and authorities from the Prefecture. The three senior officials boarded a force helicopter to observe the vessels. In Security they highlighted that joint exercises had not been carried out “for four years” since they had been canceled by the Peronist government that succeeded the administration of Mauricio Macri.

At dusk the President and his sister returned to the presidential mansion. Although those around the head of state denied that he had been aware of every exchange recorded in the Deputies, they did not rule out that he had maintained contact with Martin Menem, president of the lower house. “The session is boring. I don’t think he followed it,” confided, in his turn, a consulted spokesperson.

Over the weekend, the head of state had referred to the debate on the Bases law and again stated that if changes were forced in the chamber that would alter the spirit of the regulations, he did not rule out once again withdrawing the project from the lower house, as as happened last February. “We are having enormous economic and security achievements, they recognize what we are doing at a global level and it is not that we did it without politics. It is not that politics not only did not accompany us, it was all the time trying to put spokes in the wheel and despite the politics we are achieving it. We are not going to change course, we have defined the North,” he emphasized to La Nación +..
